How old do I have to be to take the test?

You must be at least 18 years of age to take the exam in Florida.

I am underage. What do I have to do to take the test?

In the state of Florida, GED candidates must be 18 years or older to take the GED® test.

Florida statute allows minors 16 and 17 years of age to take GED tests in exceptional circumstances based on rules set forth by thethe school district where the person lives or attends school. Each school district has different requirements that individuals must meet to qualify for an age waiver. Once the school district's requirements are met, a school district employee will be responsible for submitting the age waiver to the GEDtesting Florida office for processing. For people testing onOnline exam:

  • A parent or guardian who consents and authorizes the minor to record the test must be present at the test briefing. In the absence of a parent or guardian, the examination session will be cancelled.

Do I need to prove I am a Florida resident to take the test?

Retest rules

If I fail the exam, how long do I have to wait before taking the exam again?

For people testing in person atTParking center:

  • In Florida, there is no waiting period for the first two approaches. Once you have accepted an item for testing 3 times, you will have to wait 60 days before testing again. There is no limit to the number of tests per year.

For people testing onOnline exam:

  • The online supervised exam allows one attempt before the 60-day waiting period. After taking the online test twice, you must wait 60 days before testing again.

How much does it cost to retake the GED‌®‌ test?

For people testing in person atCenter where tests are performed: diagnostic center:

You will receive two retake discounts on any GED® test item you purchase but fail. After a full price test, you have 365 days to use these replays. After receiving two repetitions at a discounted price, the price of the research item returns to the regular price. If you fail this item again, you will receive two more attempts at a discounted price. The GED testing service is waiving the $20 testing fee, however additional testing fees may still apply in your state.

In Florida, there is a $12 test center fee for retaking the test.

It costs $38 to retake the online supervised exam in Florida. There are no discounts for retaking the online exam.

Transcripts and diplomas

I passed my GED® exam, but Florida won't issue me a degree. What I am doing?

After passing the GED®test, you will automatically receive one free electronic diploma, one free electronic transcript. You must take action to receive one free printed diploma.

Links to download your electronic diploma and transcript will be emailed to the email address associated with your GED®account after passing all GEDs®test items and earned your diploma.

  • The links are only available for a limited time, so be sure to download the electronic documents immediately.
  • Follow the instructions in the email. These PDF documents are very valuable as they can be given to employers and colleges that accept electronic credentials.
  • PDF documents are verified by the GED Testing Service/Parchment each time they are opened using Blue Ribbon security. The blue ribbon symbol displayed in a PDF ensures that the digital certificate is valid, the document is genuine, and the content of the certificate has not been altered.

Printed diploma

A printed diploma can be ordered from your GED®account onGED.com. After logging in, go to "My Results" and select "Order Duplicates". Select Diploma, then select Printed Diploma - Free.

  • Then you will be asked to whom and to what address you want to send the diploma.
  • The link to the free diploma will only be available until it is redeemed and can only be used once.
